During a thrilling indoor football game, Tulsa Oilers wide receiver Jerminic Smith made a crazy catch that left fans in awe. As he leaped for the ball, he accidentally crushed a lady sitting in the front row, turning the catch into a complete chaos.
Talk about dedication to the game. I mean, that catch was so crazy, it literally crushed this poor lady. This just goes to show you never know what to expect at a football game, especially when Jerminic Smith is on fire and ready to do some crazy catches.
In an all-out effort to reel in a 40-yard bomb from quarterback TJ Edwards, Smith launched himself through the end zone, straight over the barrier, and into the front row.
As the crowd roared, Smith came crashing down on an unsuspecting fan who had the misfortune of sitting right in his flight path. His helmet even clipped a woman seated next to the impact.
It looked like a collision straight out of a highlight reel- and that’s exactly where it landed. ESPN’s SportsCenter ranked the moment No. 1 on its Top 10 Plays of the night.
The incident happened just before halftime, with the Oilers trailing 23-15 against the Iowa Barnstormers. Edwards dropped a perfect spiral into Smith’s hands, and while the catch itself was clean, gravity had other ideas. Smith’s momentum carried him beyond the end zone and over the low wall separating the field from the seats.
Despite the abrupt landing, he held onto the ball, stood up, and didn’t miss a beat. After dusting himself off, Smith rejoined his teammates and broke into a celebratory dance with fellow receiver Hasan Rogers. According to those in attendance, fans in the section where Smith landed looked shocked but ultimately unharmed.
Tulsa used that momentum to mount a second-half comeback, eventually edging Iowa 56-51 in a high-scoring finish. Edwards delivered again in the final seconds, connecting with Tre Harvey to seal the win. The Oilers now sit second in the IFL Eastern Conference with a 6-2 record, keeping pace in the playoff hunt.
It was like something out of a movie. The crowd went wild, and you could hear jaws dropping all around the arena. But hey, at least the lady got a close-up view of the action. What a crazy moment in sports!
