Following his team’s failure to qualify for the postseason, NBA star Klay Thompson experienced a devastating personal tragedy. Rocco, the 35-year-old’s cherished canine that has accompanied him during his NBA career, died at the age of 13.
During his interview on the ‘Mason & Ireland’ radio show on Wednesday, Thompson’s father, Mychal, broke the heartbreaking news of the English bulldog’s passing.
Thompson stated: ‘As Mase and Ireland always say, when someone dear has departed, “Hail fellow well met,”‘ ‘We had to put Rocco, Klay’s dog, down over the weekend.’
Rocco was put down on Saturday, according to Mychal, although he maintained that “it was time.” He went on to say:
‘We were all sad, but Rocco had a great, long life,’. ‘So today’s game is dedicated to the memory of our service men and women, and to Rocco.’
Since Thompson adopted him during his rookie season, Rocco has had his share of the spotlight as his owner has soared to NBA fame.
