A fight for dominance in the NFC East begins Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field as the NFL season enters its eleventh week. The division is topped by the winner of the match between the 7-2 Eagles and the 7-3 Commanders. Jayden Daniels, a rookie, will experience this rivalry for the first time, while Jalen Hurts has a strong record versus the division opponent.
Daniels continues to draw attention and guide the Commanders to their best start in the NFL, and he is having a terrific start. Both teams’ backlines feature dual-threat quarterbacks and their best rushers, and they both enjoy running the ball.
However, turnovers will determine the quarterback’s play between two dual-threat shot-callers, and the LSU alum has his opposite number beat in this category.
Jalen Hurts and his competition with Jayden Daniels
Hurts has had a lot of turnovers, but Daniels has been excellent at protecting the football, according to Mark Ross in the most recent episode of The Insiders. This season, the Eagles’ shot-caller has turned the ball over nine times, including five picks and four fumbles, while the Commanders’ rookie quarterback has only thrown two interceptions. Mark Ross said : “I think the big difference, the finer points difference will be who doesn’t turn the ball over and our man Jalen Hurts has turned it over nine times this year whereas Jayden Daniels has only turned the ball over two times. You would think that rookie would be the one making the mistakes and we have seen Jalen make a lot of mistakes this year that has cost them.”
Such errors could have been anticipated of a rookie, but not of a fifth-year quarterback. He now faces a team that is evenly balanced, and the difference will be in how well the quarterback protects the ball.
In terms of statistics, Jayden and Jalen have been quite equal. Along with nine touchdowns and two interceptions, the LSU alum has thrown for 2147 yards. He averages 214.7 yards per game, with a passer rating of 101.7, and an accuracy percentage of 68.7%.
In addition to his 12 touchdown passes and five picks, the Oklahoma alum has thrown for 1976 yards. Hurts has a passer rating of 103.4, a completion percentage of 69.8, and an average of about 220 yards per game.
This season, both quarterbacks have rushed a lot, but Daniels outperforms his opposite number in this regard. With an average of 5.5 yards per carry, he has ran for 464 yards on 85 carries.
