Dua Lipa has ample cause for celebration.

For, the songbird’s newly hatched album ‘Radical Optimism’ has triumphed in the UK and looks set to exceed initial expectations in the United States.

The LP, which serves as Lipa’s third, premiered at #1 on the Official UK Album Chart – and made history in the process.

Because, in selling 46,300 units first week, the ‘Houdini’-led album delivered the highest first-week sales from a female artist in three years.

More broadly, ‘Optimism’ arrives with the highest first-week sales of a British act in the UK thus far this year.

The record also becomes the singer’s first to launch atop the coveted count. For, while 2020’s hit-heavy ‘Future Nostalgia’ also enjoyed a stint at #1, it leaped into said spot during its second week.

Stateside, Lipa is now outpacing earlier predictions.

As reported, early performance saw the album on track to debut with 55,000-65,000 units equivalent units. The number was then revised upwards, putting the star on course to score her highest US opening.

Now, per Hits Daily Double, Lipa is set to leap in even higher than projected, with a new sum of almost 84,000. 

Suffice it to say, should the number hold, it will be a testament to the enduring potency of promotion, as – unlike many of her peers – the performer has proven far from promo-shy. Indeed, during launch week, she rocked Saturday Night Live, a Times Square mini-concert, and made a host of additional appearances to support her latest body of work.
