Russell Westbrook Trash-Talks His Former Clippers Teammate

At the Ball Arena against the LA Clippers, Russell Westbrook was playing at his best. In the first quarter, the 36-year-old was spotted glaring at Ivica Zubac. Although Russ is accustomed to trash talking, what’s notable about this situation is that he did it to his former teammate.

The Nuggets led the visitors 19–13 with more than four minutes remaining in the first quarter. DeAndre Jordan was positioned at the charity stripe to attempt his free throw after drawing a foul.

During the scene, Westbrook stood next to Zubac and was heard disparaging the 27-year-old. He stated: “You better box out. You better box out.”

When Jordan missed his free throw, Westbrook had enough time to leap up and stab it in to give his team two points. This could have been the result of his trash talk.

With his confidence and his chirping around the floor, this was a classic Westbrook move. The nine-time All-Star is always full of confidence, so he isn’t troubled by his position throughout the game or even the result. His team’s sizable advantage against the Clippers did help in this particular case.

However, Westbrook and Zubac’s relationship is not defined by this trash talk display. Indeed, there is a strong bond amongst teammates, and the Clippers star has been known to give Russ flowers.
