Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars‘ ascent to the top of this week’s Hot 100 with their megahit duet ‘Die with a Smile‘ is nothing short of historic.

While for Gaga the achievement puts her in Billboard history books alongside Pop royals Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson (as reported here), the chart triumph’s blasted Bruno past Pop titans Usher and Justin Bieber in the hitlist’s record logs.

‘Smile’ marks the 9th Hot 100 chart-topper of Bruno’s career – the highest count any male vocalist can boast since the turn of the millennium.

Before this week, the 39-year-old was locked in a three-way tie with Usher and Bieber – both of whom have collected eight #1 hits apiece on the main singles chart.

Among all artists this century, only Drake (13) and Rihanna (14) have enjoyed more runs at the Hot 100’s peak since 2000.
