During Thursday’s doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers, Dennis Santana, a relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, threw a punch at a fan after claiming that the supporter “crossed the line.”
In the seventh inning of the second game, the incident happened close to the visitor’s bullpen. Santana refused to elaborate on the circumstances leading up to the fight.
Following the match, Santana stated via an interpreter: “You guys know me — I’m a calm demeanor type of person,”
“I’ve never had any issues for any of the teams I’ve played for. This guy crossed the line a few times.”
“He crossed the line, and I’d like to leave it at that. I’ve never had anything like this happen in my eight years in baseball.”

Santana was seen approaching the fan’s standing area in several films that were posted online. Pointing toward the fan, he seemed to be standing close to a security guard before jumping and swinging. Before he left the bullpen, a colleague pulled him back.
