A guy says he was robbed and beaten inside a toilet at the Crypto.com Arena on November 13, 2024, when he was with his daughter during a Los Angeles Lakers game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to a recent complaint, the plaintiff claimed that the incident happened in an upstairs restroom after he was informed by arena employees that “a celebrity” was using the restroom nearest his courtside seats.

The name of the celebrity in question was withheld.

Battery, assault, premises responsibility, and general negligence are the claims made in Efren Grave’s complaint against AEG-Crypto.com Arena in the Los Angeles Superior Court.

As a witness to the alleged battery, Grave’s minor daughter filed a claim for negligent infliction of emotional distress in the lawsuit.

The claim alleges that on the evening of November 13, 2024, Grave and his daughter were seated courtside. The suit claims that when the two went to the closest restroom during the game, the staff informed them that it was occupied by a “celebrity,” so they proceeded upstairs to another lavatory.

The suit also claims that Grave was hit on the head and subjected to additional abuse as he attempted to exit the bathroom after three men approached him while he was washing his hands and started to harass him about the diamond watch and chains he was wearing.

Grave was “robbed,” according to the complaint, but it is unclear what property was taken.

Grave said that when he yelled for assistance, the workers and security guards were allegedly too preoccupied in the game to give him the attention he needed. Employees were “reasonably foreseeable” that patrons of the Figueroa Street venue may be attacked, according to the lawsuit.
