The 24-year-old star of the Atlanta Falcons and the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Kyle Pitts, is starting his fifth and last season as a rookie. The former Florida Gators standout will undoubtedly be brought up in trade rumors as long as there is no extension in place.
According to the NFL insider, there is a growing perception in the league that the 6-foot-6, 246-pound speedster would be available for the right price, even though Fowler claims the Falcons are not actively selling Pitts. On Saturday, Fowler stated:
‘I don’t think it’s a situation where [the Falcons] are aggressively shopping [Pitts],’ ‘But it appears, talking to some other teams, they think Atlanta is at least open to the possibility and Pitts might be as well.’
Pitts is not’requesting a trade,’ Fowler emphasized, but added: ‘if he has a chance to go to maybe a better offense where he’s more featured—he’s sort of the third or fourth wheel right now in Atlanta—it could be something that he’s open to.’
In 2021, Pitts shocked scouts by completing the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, which is typically saved for cornerbacks and wide receivers.
Pitts became just the second rookie tight end to reach 1,000 receiving yards that season, but he has had difficulty building on that accomplishment because of the Falcons offense’s regular turnover.
