Much to fan dismay, Halle Berry is shutting down rumors she will be suiting up to reprise her role as beloved ‘X-Men’ character Storm in any Marvel production in the near future.
While rocking the red carpet of CinemaCon 2025 this week, Berry – alongside her ‘Crime 101‘ co-star Chris Hemsworth – fielded questions about her future as the Mistress of the Elements given the recent unveiling of so many legacy ‘X-Men‘ and ‘Avengers‘ stars set for the 2026-due new installment of the latter film franchise.
“Nope,” Halle quickly answered when quizzed by ‘ExtraTV’ on if she’ll be Storm in the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ movie.
Berry’s answer echoes a statement she gave our friends at ‘Black Girl Nerds’ on if her name will be on one of the chairs of the yet-unveiled stars of the upcoming movie.
“Keep waiting. It’s not going to be there,” she relayed. “It’s not going to be there.”
Her absence will certainly be felt as ‘Doomsday’ will reportedly feature appearances from Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and more stars to be announced in the coming weeks.
The 58-year-old originated the role of Storm in the 2000 live-action adaptation of ‘X-Men,’ later reprising the iconic portrayal in 2003, 2006, and 2014.
And while Berry seemingly has no interest in bringing “The Weather Witch” to life via a Marvel film in the near future, SZA sure does.
During her recent visit to ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ the superstar singer – who is enjoying the critical acclaim being showered on her debut acting endeavor ‘One of Them Days‘ – says she wants to continue building her resume and named portraying the ‘X-Men’ icon as her dream role.
“I was thinking, you know, how Storm has an origin story, like, she comes from like this whole other place where it’s like, the jungle… I think that would be so gnarly if I could be Storm’s origin story. That’d be so cool. I’d love to bring the rain,” she told Hudson during the sit-down interview (as seen above).
SZA is the latest in a slew of stars making headlines for vying to play Storm in a future Marvel production including Chloe Bailey, Cynthia Erivo, and Dewanda Wise.
At writing, Marvel has not announced any official plans to produce a film about the beloved character’s origin story.
