GRAMMYs 2025: Alicia Keys to Receive the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award

Alicia Keys may already sit in history books as one of the most GRAMMY-awarded women ever (16 and counting), but in 2025 she will be penciled in the Academy’s record logs as only the third female performer (following Mariah Carey and Missy Elliott) to receive the coveted Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.

Established in 2022 to recognize “Black music creators whose dedication to the art form has greatly influenced the industry,” the award was christened after Dr. Dre in 2023 for his impact beyond music that delved into “entrepreneurial achievements, philanthropic efforts, and a profound impact on a global scale.”

As 2025’s honoree, Keys will extend her career GRAMMY wins to a whopping 17.

“From her timeless music to her unwavering dedication to uplifting others, Alicia has made an indelible impact on the world,” said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, when revealing the R&B diva as next year’s recipient. “Alicia embodies everything the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award represents — her artistry knows no bounds, her advocacy inspires meaningful change, and her influence has profoundly shaped culture. We are honored to celebrate her extraordinary legacy and the transformative contributions she continues to make in music and beyond.”

Presented by the Black Music Collective, an official GRAMMY Week 2025 event, Alicia will be bestowed the honor at the Fairmont Century Plaza on January 30 ahead of the 2025 GRAMMYs on February 2.

If that’s not enough to celebrate, Keys’ ‘Hell’s Kitchen‘ Broadway play is up for Best Musical Theater Album at the main ceremony and could land her 18th golden gramophone.
