In addition to the pride that comes with winning the NBA Cup, Giannis Antetokounmpo, the star of the Milwaukee Bucks, had another reason for helping his team defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night.
After the game, Antetokounmpo told reporters that he promised two-way contract player Liam Robbins that if the Bucks won the NBA Cup and received the associated prize money, Robbins would be able to buy the house in Iowa that he desired.

Did Liam Robbins need help from Giannis Antetokounmpo?
Liam Robbins left Vanderbilt in 2023 without being selected. Last season, he was scheduled to play for the Birmingham Squadron in the G League, but he was unable to participate in a game due to a stress reaction in his right leg sustained while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans in the preseason.
Robbins was signed by the Bucks as a free agent in August, and on October 21, they changed his contract to a two-way one. He can now play for the Wisconsin Herd in the G League and participate in up to 50 regular-season games with the main team.
Liam Robbins was born in Davenport, Iowa, and went to the city’s Assumption High School before switching to Sunrise Christian Academy and reclassifying.
Before entering the NBA, he played collegiate basketball at Drake, Minnesota, and Vanderbilt.
Prorated according to the signing date, two-way contracts are worth half of the rookie minimum pay. Robbins will receive the full $578,577 because he signed before the 2024–25 season began.
Robbins received almost as much money for a single game Tuesday night as he will for the whole season after the Bucks’ 97-81 victory. The victorious squad’s players get $514,971 in prizes.
