Former Texas WR Johntay Cook II Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Someone’s Car Keys

Former Texas wide receiver, Johntay Cook II, has gotten himself into a bit of trouble. It turns out, he was arrested for allegedly stealing someone’s car keys! Can you believe it? That’s gross!

Now, we don’t have all the details on what exactly went down, but according to the Fort Worth police, Cook allegedly went into the “drive-thru of a business, reached inside the window, and stole someone’s car keys.” What was he thinking? To get away with someone’s car with the keys?

Police say Cook then ‘left the location’. Officers were able to make contact with Cook and he was arrested when he did not comply with their demands. The car keys were eventually recovered.

Cook departed the Longhorns in November of the 2024 college football season and declared for the transfer portal. He played just four games in the season, with his last game coming against SEC opponent Mississippi State on September 28.

Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian did not reveal any specific details as to why Cook was leaving the team, but said the choice was mutual.

‘We have nothing but respect for [Cook] and his family,’ Sarkisian said at the time. ‘We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.’

It’s a shame. Cook had potential. He was a talented player and had a bright future ahead of him. But now, it looks like he might have messed it all up with this dumb decision.

We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out. Will Cook face jail time? Will he be able to bounce back from this? Only time will tell. But for now, let this be a lesson to everyone – don’t mess with other people’s car keys. It’s just not worth it.
