Carson Beck To Join Texas Tech Football?

After announcing that he was going to the 2025 NFL Draft, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is now going to the transfer portal, according to reports from On3 and ESPN on Thursday. Both sources stated that Texas Tech is one among the possible suitors for Beck’s services, in addition to the fact that he is leaving.

In the SEC Championship game versus Texas, Beck tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, necessitating surgery. According to ESPN, one of the reasons Beck chose to return to college rather than pursue a career in professional sports was his recovery time.

The Beck sweepstakes also lists Ohio State, Miami, and Notre Dame as teams to keep an eye on. Of these four prestigious universities, Texas Tech is the only one predicted to have its starting quarterback from 2024 return in 2025.

How likely is Carson Beck to Texas Tech

As the 2025 spring season approaches, the Red Raiders have five quarterbacks on the roster. This includes Liberty Bowl star Will Hammond, Wake Forest transfer Mitch Griffis, returning starter Behren Morton, and incoming freshmen Lloyd Jones III and Holden Phillips, who is the preferred walk-on.

Jones sustained an injury during his high school career, while Morton had shoulder surgery following the regular season. In his announcement of the surgery, Morton stated that he hoped to “fully rehab this spring and be ready for the start of summer workouts.” Jones sustained an injury while playing in high school.

Uncertainty regarding the depth of the quarterback position for spring ball led to the late December signing of Frenship product Phillips. Jones’s status is unknown, but he will enroll in the spring.

Joey McGuire expressed his desire to have four quarterbacks on the team in 2025 back on December 4. McGuire stated: “We don’t want an older quarterback unless he’s comfortable being a backup to a backup,”. “We feel great about our one and two. …”

It’s difficult to see how Texas Tech will be so active in acquiring Beck in light of everything. It might very well be a Red Raiders power play. It might as well have been a move by Beck’s group to create the appearance of a bidding battle.

Carson-Beck-to-Texas-Tech seems unlikely, but everything is possible.
