Kendrick Perkins is not one to mince words. He has a lot to say now about Mike Budenholzer. The Phoenix Suns have not been doing well; they are stuck in a rut and are having difficulty turning things around.
The Suns are 1 1/2 games off of a play-in slot and currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference with a record of 31–37. Kendrick Perkins gave a critical assessment of Phoenix’s current situation after the team has dropped three of its previous four games and the playoffs are getting farther away.
Perkins said in an interview with NBA Today that he believes the team’s top players, including Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant, have all turned their backs on coach Mike Budenholzer.

Perkins was unreserved in his criticism of the Suns’ overall lack of effort, calling them an embarrassment to the NBA. Phoenix had a 25–22 record going into February, but they have since lost 15 games and won just six. Perkins was quick to point the finger at the team’s stars, Durant and Booker, who he believes haven’t put up enough of a fight, as they continue to lose ground in the battle for a play-in place.

Perkins stated: “A disaster. A team that has quit on their coach. And, if I’m Mike Budenholzer, to be honest, there’s no more rankings in the locker room. There’s no more franchise guys. I’m playing the guys that are going to compete for me, and if that means Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal not getting the minutes, then damn it, so be it,”
“When I look at the Phoenix Suns, in my 14 years of playing, I have never been part of an organization that quit on their coach. … This is an embarrassment. Not only to the Phoenix organization, but the rest of the NBA,”
Strong words by Kendrick Perkins I must say.
