Why Will Smith Bowed Out of Surprise Performance During Grammys Hip-Hop Tribute

Questlove, who organized the 50^th anniversary of hip-hop salute at the GRAMMYs shared that Smith was originally supposed to be a part of it. However, he dropped out at the last minute.

Speaking to Variety, Questlove shared the reason as to why.

“I’ll give the spoiler alert away. Will Smith was a part of the festivities tonight, but they started shooting Bad Boys 4 this week,” he said.

“There were a lot of preliminary shots that he had to do, so we had to lose Will,” he continued.

However, Smith was not the only one who was slated for a performance. Speaking to The New York Times, Questlove also shared that Lil Wayne and Future were also supposed to appear in the performance, but both dropped out last minute as well.

Either way, the show went on and became one of the most celebrated moments of the night.
