Update on Damian Lillard’s Injury as He Is Thought to Have Torn His Achilles

Damian Lillard, a star for the Milwaukee Bucks, has an injury update. After recovering from a blood clot in his calf that kept him out of action for more than a month, Lillard sustained a severe injury during the Bucks’ first-round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers.

Lillard was seen sitting motionless at the 3-point line during the first quarter of the Pacers’ Game 4 victory over the Bucks. Suddenly collapsing, the 34-year-old clutched for his left calf and Achilles tendon as he tried to grab an offensive rebound from a failed three-pointer.

Coach Doc Rivers helped Lillard hop his way to the bench after teammate Kyle Kuzma pulled him to his feet after the next dead ball. Lillard, a nine-time NBA All-Star, was feared to have torn his Achilles.

The Bucks said before the first half that Lillard would not be returning because of a “lower leg injury.”

NBA insider Chris Haynes stated shortly after the team’s release that there is concern that Lilard tore his left Achilles tendon. On Monday, Lillard will have an MRI. Following Sunday night’s 129-103 loss to the Bucks, Rivers stated, as reported by ESPN:

“Just being honest, it’s not very promising,”

When Lillard suffered the injury, the Bucks were only three points down.  After a startlingly short one-month absence, he participated in Game 2 of the series against the Pacers.

However, having only averaged 10.5 points and 6.0 assists on a dismal 24 percent shooting rate in the first two games, Lillard hasn’t looked like himself.

The Bucks, headed by Giannis Antetokounmpo, will be ready to play without Lillard as they attempt to avoid losing in the first round of the playoffs for the third straight year.

The fifth game will take place in Indianapolis on Tuesday.
