Haliburton’s girlfriend isn’t the only one having a laugh – social media was buzzing with reactions to her playful banter. Whether you’re a Knicks fan or not, you got to admit, it’s kind of funny to see the trash talk flying around after a game.
After Indiana’s dominant 125-108 win on Saturday night, which secured the franchise’s first trip to the NBA Finals since 2000, Jones took to Instagram with a jab straight out of the Knicks’ own playbook. Quoting the team’s iconic anthem “Go NY Go,” which rings out at Madison Square Garden during home games, Jones flipped the script.
“Go NY go NY go… HOME!!!” she wrote, punctuated with the hashtag “#YESCERSSS” and a pair of gold heart emojis. She also added, “So proud of this team!!! ???.”
But that was just the beginning. Jones accompanied the post with a meme of the Statue of Liberty donning a Haliburton Pacers jersey — a not-so-subtle reminder of Indiana’s triumph on New York’s home turf.
The post also featured a snapshot of Haliburton flashing a choke gesture, echoing a legendary moment from Pacers history when Reggie Miller taunted Knicks fans during the 1994 playoffs.
Haliburton’s throwback antics didn’t go unnoticed, and neither did his family’s. Another image in Jones’ carousel featured Haliburton’s father, John Haliburton, wearing a T-shirt that read “Pops is free” — a reference to his eight-game playoff ban following a heated exchange with Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier in the postseason.
Sports are all about passion and rivalry, so let’s just enjoy the ride! No hard feelings here!
