When his name was called to the podium on Saturday night in New York City, the Colorado Buffaloes two-way standout will go down in college football history forever. There has been more discussion about Lenee than about him and his prize, even if his dramatic speech undoubtedly made people cry.
Lenee was called out by trolls on Sunday for not getting up when Hunter won, claiming that Deion Sanders had to “force” her to do so. Angel Reese defended Lenee for the exaggerated response on X, formerly Twitter.

Hunter was meeting and greeting fans on Monday, and he was doing the same thing in response to the vitriol that Lenee is getting for not just that particular incident but also other recent remarks she made. Lenee is so heartbroken that she is “crying herself to sleep” and “drinking” to feel better, which is awful. Hunter is quite entitled to be angry and stand up for his girlfriend.
He claims that he and Lenee had been together for five years, dating since high school in Georgia. He is pleased with her, thus the nasty speech directed at her online must stop. There shouldn’t be hateful stories about Travis Hunter’s fiancée like this one; he should be enjoying his Heisman.
