In 2 Playoff Games, the Boston Celtics Set an Unwanted NBA Record

In their series against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Boston Celtics lost two games in a row, setting an undesirable NBA record. The Knicks secured a 2-0 lead in the series by stealing home court advantage from the Celtics and pulling off two consecutive upsets. The Knicks won 108-105 in overtime in Game 1 and narrowly prevailed 91-90 in Game 2 to further establish their supremacy.

The Celtics ended up setting an unwelcome NBA record during their miserable playoff journey. Boston set an NBA playoff record for the most missed three-pointers in a game in Game 1 after shooting 15 of 60 from the three-point arc.

The 18-time champs shot 10-of-40 in their Wednesday night loss, further stretching the record. They did this, setting a new NBA record for the most three-pointers missed in two games (75).

Before the NBA 2025 Playoffs started, the defending champions were among the strongest candidates to win the NBA 2025 Championship. They defeated the Orlando Magic 4-1 in their first round and advanced to the conference semifinals to face their No. 3 opponents. The Knicks entered the semifinals as underdogs, despite having an incredible regular season and being one of the three teams to surpass 60 wins.

The Celtics dominated the majority of the games in both of their defeats. But after falling behind 20 points in the third quarter of Game 1 and Game 2, the Knicks pulled off miraculous comebacks and won games on the road to take a series lead.
