Tom Brady Offers Shedeur Sanders 3 Pointers for NFL Glory

Shedeur Sanders is under a great deal of pressure going into his debut season as a professional after dealing with what is regarded as the largest fall in NFL Draft history. The Colorado product will only need to maximize the hand he has been dealt now that he has nothing to lose and everything to prove.

Fortunately, the best quarterback in NFL history is on his side. Tom Brady recently talked about what he thinks the former Buffalo needs to do to make the most of the opportunity the Browns have given him on the Impaulsive podcast.

Tom Brady’s tips for Shedeur Sanders

Sanders will be OK as long as he follows three basic rules, according to the potential first-ballot Hall of Famer. The first two of these criteria need him to be the team’s leader and to show up every day. He said:

“He’s got to show up everyday. As a quarterback, you have to be a leader. To be a leader is, do I care about my teammates and do I care about what we’re trying to accomplish? That’s rules one and two.”

“You’re not just appealing to your 22-year-old rookie, you’re appealing to the 32 year old veteran… to the coach who’s trying not to get fired… the owner who has made an investment in you… the staff, their lives are riding on the fact that you need to perform well. The only thing that mattered to me over time was my teammates. Did they feel like I gave them the best chance to win.”

Even if leadership and attendance seem like prerequisites, it pays to be consistent both practically and figuratively. In other words, Sanders will need to invest the time and effort necessary to develop into the elite quarterback prospect that many still consider him to be.

Regarding Brady’s third criteria of success for quarterbacks, it all comes down to understanding how to get along with and instill confidence in the different members of a team’s organization.
