A few days after the Las Vegas Raiders gave their star edge rusher Maxx Crosby a three-year extension worth more than $90 million guaranteed, the Hall of Fame-bound defensive end agreed to a four-year extension worth an average of $40 million annually, resetting the market for his position.

Parsons’ talkative and opinionated style has occasionally caused discomfort for the Cowboys’ leadership. As he begins his “walk” season, tensions around the team’s Frisco, Texas, facility could escalate to a whole new level if Jones does not quickly work out an extension with his best defensive player.
