A fourth professional sports franchise now has Tom Brady as a co-owner. In 2023, a few weeks after he announced his retirement from football, Tom Brady revealed that he had acquired a stake in the Mark Davis-owned Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA. He acquired a stake in the Birmingham City football team a few months later.
Brady was given permission to buy a portion of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, which Davis also owns, in October. It appears that he now has a fourth professional sports team under his belt.
The three-time Super Bowl champion reportedly owns a portion of the Birmingham Phoenix cricket franchise, which is situated in Birmingham, England.
Brady co-founded Knighthead Capital Management with his business partner, Tom Wagner.
Knighthead Capital Management’s 49 percent bid for Birmingham Phoenix was accepted, according to Jeff Benson of Front Office Sports. Brady owns stock in Wagner’s business:
“Over a quarter of the new investments—£144 million ($173 million)—was pledged by an ownership group led by Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora that also includes tech CEOs Sundar Pichai (Google), Satya Nadella (Microsoft), and Shantanu Narayen (Adobe). That group bought a 49% stake in the London Spirit.
Another group, Knighthead Capital Management, successfully bid £40 million for a 49% stake in the Birmingham Phoenix—a natural outgrowth of its ownership of Birmingham City football club.”
During his playing career, Brady earned hundreds of millions of dollars, primarily from sponsorship deals. In addition to owning sporting properties, the 47-year-old secured a lucrative 10-year, $375 million television agreement with Fox in 2022.
