Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.
However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.
This week, we want to highlight cuts from Louis Tomlinson, Kim Petras, Ava Max, and Deaf Havana.
Join us inside…
Louis Tomlinson – Silver Tongues
Former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson has shared his new single called ‘Silver Tongues,’ which is from his new album ‘Faith in the Future’ – out today. Across the track, Tomlinson goes full pop-punk with energetic guitars and a pop melody. A rousing anthem unlike any he has before, ‘Silver Tongues’ sets the tone for Tomlinson’s must-hear new album.

Kim Petras – If Jesus Was A Rockstar
After scoring her first Billboard Hot 100 #1 with ‘Unholy,’ Kim Petras looks to keep the momentum going with her latest single ‘If Jesus Was A Rockstar.’ A melancholy pop tune that places emphasis on her feelings about religion, the song is complete with tinges of acoustic guitar, a pulsating back beat, and handclaps. While not as hypnotic as her song ‘Future Starts Now,’ ‘If Jesus Was A Rockstar’ is still nonetheless a shining example of Petras’ pop brilliance.

Ava Max – Weapons
Ava Max is headed to the dancefloor for her latest single, ‘Weapons.’ Built around an anthemic disco-meets-pop groove, Max tackles her own vulnerability in a song that will have you dancing with your tears. Easily the best song from her upcoming album ‘Diamonds and Dancefloors’ so far, ‘Weapons’ is a soon-to-be staple in her discography.

Deaf Havana – Someone/Somewhere
Rock band Deaf Havana has unleashed the deluxe edition of their album ‘The Present Is A Foreign Land’ and on it is a track called ‘Someone/Somewhere.’ A skillful blend of rock elements blended with pop sensibilities, ‘Someone/Somewhere’ is perhaps the bravest track on the collection of songs and among their strongest of the year.
