Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’: That Grape Juice Ranks The Vault Tracks

Taylor Swift has unleashed ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ – a re-recording of her third studio album.

Led by sultry ‘I Can See You,’ the set sees Swift explore themes of adolescence, love, and loss.

That Grape Juice has been spinning the LP since its release. Join us below to find out where the vault tracks rank on ‘Speak Now (TV).’

6. Foolish One

Swift explores heartbreak across this country-infused song. Seeing Swift unleash the devastating lyric “I’ll get your longing glances, but she’ll get your ring,” the song serves as a transitional piece from the more country ‘Fearless’ and combines with the more mature themes of ‘Speak Now.’

5. Castles Crumbling

The first collaborative vault track to make this list, Swift teams with Paramore’s Hayley Williams to showcase the downfalls of being some of the biggest names in music. The production sees the pair showcase their ethereal vocals against gentle instrumentals. While Swift would cover this theme later in her career – she would also do it better then – it is still a standout meditation from Swift.

4. I Can See You

Swift treks through new music territory in this surf-rock-infused pop-rock anthem. Packed with innuendos and romantic tension, Swift delivers one of her most alluring songs.

3. Electric Touch

The second and final collaboration to appear on the vault tracks, this time, Swift team with emo legends Fall Out Boy for a chemistry-packed tune that focuses on a love so strong it is either going to break their hearts or bring it back to life. Why this collaboration never came out sooner is a crime, but one we will forgive now that we have it.

2. When Emma Falls In Love

Taylor Swift is no stranger to creating her own worlds inside of her songs, and ‘When Emma Falls In Love’ is no different. A rendered character study on her friend, Emma, that is filled with lyrical complexities and delicate touches of piano. ‘When Emma Falls In Love’  proves that even at a young age, Swift’s songwriting was far beyond her years.

1. Timeless

There is Lord Byron, and then there is Taylor Swift. Both known for their epic love poems, but Swift gives him a run for his money on this sweeping, romantic ballad. Dreamy production anchors the song as Swift sings about soulmates finding each other in every lifetime. Easily one of her best vault songs ever, ‘Timeless’ is a song that will never get old.
