RIAA: Ariana Grande Joins Beyonce, Rihanna, & Taylor Swift As Only Female Singers with 20+ Multi-Platinum Hits

Before March 31, music divas Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Beyonce were the only female singers who could boast having 20 or more multi-Platinum singles in the 72-year history of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

That changed recently, however, after the exclusive club saw an addition in the form of GRAMMY-winning songstress Ariana Grande.

Though still enjoying the rave reviews rolling in for ‘Brighter Days‘ – the short film and deluxe edition of her latest album ‘Eternal Sunshine‘ – Grande’s learned a little light has been shone on some of her earlier work.

On Monday (March 31), the RIAA revealed several titles from her catalog had their certification statuses updated.

See the full list below.

6x Platinum

  • ‘The Way’ (Single)

5x Platinum

  • ‘Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored’ (Single)

2x Platinum

  • ‘Needy’ (Single)

Platinum (for 1 million sold in the U.S.)

  • ‘Right There’ (Single)
  • ‘Almost Is Never Enough’ (Single)
  • ‘Bad Idea’ (Single)
  • ‘Fake Smile’ (Single)
  • ‘Ghostin’ (Single)

Thanks to ‘Needy,’ Ariana’s collected her 20th multi-Platinum song – a historic feat that puts her in the company of Rihanna (34), Beyonce (32), and Swift (28) as the only female singers to boast having as many or more.

Among all artists, Drake holds the record for most multi-Platinum songs (38).

The Grande news comes a little over a month after she learned her 2019 smash ‘7 Rings‘ had become her first Diamond-certified single – a measure that denotes sales of 10 million in the United States.

She previously earned a similar plaque for the Jessie J and Nicki Minaj-assisted ‘Bang Bang.’

Collectively, the updates push Ariana’s certified Stateside single sales total to 107 million, making her one of the best-selling female artists in digital music history.
