Shamea Morton has taken center stage on the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and she’s shining on the promotional trail.
Her latest stop was The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1.
During the candid chat, Shamea delved into the breakdown of her friendship with her longtime friend Porsha Williams.
Having appeared on RHOA as a “Friend of the Show” for years, the refreshed season 16 has seen the singer become a full-time peach holder.
And she doesn’t hold back in unpacking her belief that it has changed things within her friendship with Porsha.
Full story below…
Opening up about how she became friends with Porsha, Shamea told hosts Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Jess Hilarious:
“Our parents were best friends and that is how we became best friends. You know how it is when you take family trips. First, it was a forced friendship because we were childhood friends. Then I went to college, she did her thing, and then we kinda came back together after she got married. And it was like ‘oh my gosh, I missed you.’ And we were inseparable since.”
When quizzed on their rocky status today, she continued:
“Prior to this show, I’d like to think we were very close. [Where things are now is unfortunate] because I love Porsha. We have a good time together. She’s super silly, like me. Down to earth. This platform…I prayed that it wouldn’t change things, but unfortunately, it has.
It’s a lot of people muddying things, and it’s messy. Some of these women are messy – and I would never have allowed them to ruin our friendship or even muddy the waters. But…she’s listened to some of the things they’ve said and – of course, with this show – everything will be revealed.
We’ve gone this whole season and not really being speaking and, when you watch it, it’s like ‘see, I told you.’ I thought it would be a case of ‘thank you for holding me down in my absence.’ But instead it’s like ‘oh, you’re trying to start stuff with me and Drew.””
Asked if she felt things changed when she became a full-time peachholder, Shamea didn’t hesitate in saying:
“Yes, because now we are having to share the spotlight, and it’s uncomfortable.”
