As revealed by a recent interview, ‘One Wish’ hitmaker Ray J only has one wish for his Rap royal gal pals Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim: reconciliation.
Despite making no secret of his admiration of the Harajuku Barbie over the last few years, Ray (born William Ray Norwood Jr.) was romantically linked to her nemesis (Lil Kim) in the early-to-late 2000s.
While reflecting over his time with the latter during a recent interview at VLADTV, Ray claims his loyalty to the ‘Hardcore‘ hitmaker led him to make some subliminally disparaging remarks about Minaj.
Said comments, according to him, are what led to their enduring beef – tension that lives on nearly 15 years later.
“I kinda started the whole Lil Kim-Nicki Minaj beef when I spoke out of turn at a Lil Kim concert [in the early 2010s],” he said before relaying, “I said some sh-t that wasn’t cool. It created friction with them and it shouldn’t have. I take full responsibility for that.”
While Ray wouldn’t clarify exactly what he said at the concert, Internet sleuths believe it’s commentary made during a 2010 appearance where he asserted there were “imposters” copying the Queen Bee. He did not name Minaj during the rant, however.
Regardless, the ‘Sexy Can I’ singer is hoping the Rap divas can bury the hatchet.
“I said whenever I get a chance to talk to Nicki about it, I’ll let her know that I acknowledge the things I did. I want her and Lil Kim to be straight; I think that [their relationship] is on the right path. I don’t know where they are now, but I know what I did I’m very apologetic for it,” he said.
In various interviews over the last decade-and-a-half, Minaj and Kim have been very vocal about what led to the dissolution of their relationship – never once mentioning Ray J in their respective recounts.
As of the time of this report, neither rapstress has addressed his most recent claims.
