Tonight, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-104 at AT&T Center, ending their two-game losing streak. Chris Paul, a veteran of the NBA, was high after winning the NBA Cup matchup. Paul raved about his leadership abilities to Jared Greenberg over the phone after the game.
The Spurs signed the 39-year-old to lend support to their youthful roster. CP3 went out there to get his team a victory even though San Antonio’s top three scorers weren’t on the court during the game against OKC.
Chris Paul Speaks about San Antonio Spurs
The Point God responded as follows when asked if he views this time with the Spurs as a chance to demonstrate his value as a competitor: “I don’t know what that ‘playing for nothing’ is about.”
Even if he doesn’t currently have a championship on the record books, CP3 claimed that he still exudes a spirit of competition. Paul went on to say: “Regardless of championship or not, every year, teams I’ve been on have been competitive. So, I wanted to come here, just bring that mindset, bring that attitude, and let these guys know that in order to win games, first and foremost, they’ve gotta believe.”

Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, and Victor Wembanyama were not playing for the Spurs. Paul defeated the second-best squad in the Western Conference while they were away, scoring 14 points, pulling down five rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists. CP3 was one of seven players to score in double figures. During the battle, their defense was even more remarkable.
The Thunder were held to just 41% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc by the Spurs. They lost to the CP3-led team despite the heroic efforts of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (32-3-7) and Jalen Williams (27-10-6).
