Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic has been the driving force behind the Nuggets‘ 50 regular season victories and their six postseason victories so far. Despite The Joker, the Nuggets prevailed on Friday night.
The Nuggets star center turned the ball over eight times and struggled with his shooting, going 8-for-25 from the floor and 0-for-10 from three-point range. You don’t need to search any farther to get a sense of how bad this game was for Jokic.
Furthermore, Jokic was already aware of his poor play. Indeed, when Jokic addressed media following the game, he called himself the “worst player on the court.”
Jokic said: “…They’re aggressive, they’re physical, they’re handy,”
“They’re playing passing lanes. I mean, I don’t know what they were doing, because if I know, I’m not having those kinds of mistakes. I need to figure out what they’re doing.
“Basically, I was the worst player on the court today. But we won the game. And that’s most important.”
For Jokic, it wasn’t all bad. In addition to dishing out six assists and grabbing 16 rebounds, he also recorded two steals and blocks. Unexpectedly, he was also a plus-5 for the evening.
