Colombian “She Hulk” Zunilda Hoyos Mendez Hammered to Death

On Thursday, Zunilda Hoyos Mendez and her husband, 46-year-old Jarrod Gelling, were discovered dead at their rented house in the town of Fuengirola, Spain.

The 43-year-old Colombian bodybuilder, nicknamed as “She Hulk” was found dead from self-inflicted knife wounds, while her spouse was found dead from hammer-related injuries.

After a friend reported the 43-year-old, also known as Amy, missing, Zunilda Hoyos Mendez and her husband, Jarrod Gelling, 46, were discovered dead in their rented house in the Spanish town of Fuengirola on Thursday, according to the New York Post.

Officers discovered her American husband with what they have called “apparent self-inflicted stab wounds,” according to the Post, while Ms. Mendez was found with injuries that suggested she had been slain with a hammer.

According to the Spanish National Police: “Her body showed obvious signs of violence and that of the man’s signs indicating a suicide-type death which is something an autopsy will have to confirm,”

Ms. Mendez’s family said that the couple was having marital issues. Following their trip, which would have concluded with a bodybuilding competition in Portugal in a few weeks, the 43-year-old reportedly told family members that her husband had been abusive against her for the last year and that the two planned to get a divorce.
