Micah Parsons doesn’t hold back while speaking. Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava is reportedly skipping spring workouts unless he secures a significant increase in his NIL contract from $2 million to an incredible $4 million per year, an unusual move that is reminiscent of NFL-style contract standoffs.

Chris Low of ESPN broke the story on Friday, saying that the sophomore quarterback’s choice to skip voluntary team workouts took the Tennessee football staff by surprise.

Low stated that although school administrators were “surprised” by Iamaleava’s behavior, they are not yet displaying signs of giving in. Low reported: “Tennessee officials ‘won’t blink,'”

Iamaleava’s denial occurs just a few days before the April 16 opening of the NCAA’s spring transfer portal window. Iamaleava might go through the portal and rank among the most sought-after quarterbacks available if no deal is finalized.
