Odell Beckham Jr. might be approaching the end of his playing days. Although the 11-year veteran is among the NFL’s most impressive receivers, his performance has declined after his 2021 injury, which ultimately cost him his job with the Miami Dolphins.
As the 12th choice in the 2014 Draft, Beckham Jr. entered the NFL through the New York Giants. In 2015 and 2016, he was selected to the Second Team All-Pro, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl from 2014 to 2016. After playing with the Giants for five years, Beckham became an NFL “wanderer,” appearing for four different clubs.
The LSU alumnus missed the 2022 season after suffering an ACL injury in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl LVI victory. He played for Baltimore in 2023 before agreeing to a one-year, $8.25 million deal with Miami in May 2024, which included a $3 million guarantee.

Will Odell Beckham Jr.’s career come to an end?
The Dolphins posted a simple statement on their X (previously Twitter) account: “We have waived WR Odell Beckham Jr.” The receiver only made his debut in Week 5 after recovering from knee surgery, even though he arrived at the beginning of the season.
Beckham Jr. only played 112 snaps, was targeted 18 times, caught nine passes, and contributed 55 yards without scoring any touchdowns in his nine Miami games. In 2015, he had his greatest season with the Giants, catching 96 catches for 1,450 yards and 13 touchdowns.
After Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Beckham Jr. was slated to be quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s third top target. But as tight end Jonu Smith became more crucial to offensive coordinator Frank Smith’s plan, he started to play less and less.
The receiver did not take part in practices this week for the Week 15 game against the Houston Texans, however, neither OBJ nor the organization has explained his absence.
The receiver will now need to wait until Monday to clear waivers and find out if any teams interested in him are in the running for the playoffs.
