Kanye West may not only be en route to watching his latest album, ‘Vultures 1,’ soar to #1 on the Billboard 200 but he could also see cuts from the project – namely the Ty Dolla $ign, Rich the Kid, and Playboi Carti-assisted ‘Carnival‘ – fly as high as the top 10 of next week’s Hot 100.
In an effort to block the latter, fans of his longtime nemesis Taylor Swift (affectionately called #Swifties) are joining forces to help Beyonce‘s latest singles – ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ and ‘16 Carriages‘ – ride past West to the all-genre chart’s top spot.
Once word of their endeavors landed on Kanye’s desk, he took to social media to respond. Hop inside to see what he said.
Taking to Instagram on Valentine’s night (February 14), the GRAMMY-winning rapper wasn’t exactly feeling the love when he addressed the fan group directly in a lengthy post.
“Remember, I was on Taylor’s side when Scooter [Braun] bought her masters behind her back,” he told his 19.5 million followers on the platform alongside a photo of the tweet calling for streams of Bey’s new songs. “She and Beyonce are big inspirations to all musicians; we always say how both sell out tours and movies. Also, I’m sure I”ve been far more helpful to Taylor Swift’s career than harmful.”
Elsewhere in the post West denied being forcibly removed from the Super Bowl as rumors continue to swirl that the ‘Anti-Hero‘ hitmaker (or her boyfriend Travis Kelce) had him kicked out.
“To all Taylor Swift fans, I am not your enemy; I’m not your friend either thought,” he said. “Also, I didn’t get kicked out of the Super Bowl. We left our seats to go to YG’s box and see different friends.”
His unexpected address to the Swifties will likely only further encourage their galvanized attempt to dethrone him.
While Beyonce’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ is holding tight to the top spot on real-time global iTunes charts, West’s ‘Carnival’ sits at #1 on worldwide Apple Music and Spotify tallies.
The race to midnight on Friday morning (February 16) could see Bey and Ye going head-to-head for next week’s Hot 100 championship.
