Jimmy Butler Is Wanted by the Grizzlies to Cement Their Deep Playoff Push

It appears that NBA fans will always be haunted by the story of Jimmy Butler. With his antics, which have included missing a team flight, donning sneakers with Phoenix Suns themes, and even dying his hair to resemble the colors of teams he would like to play for, the dissatisfied Miami Heat player has been making headlines for weeks.

Even though he has been suspended twice and continues to act badly, the Miami Heat don’t seem to be any closer to dealing him than they were two weeks ago. The Memphis Grizzlies are one team that is reportedly interested in Butler.

With a record of 29-15, Taylor Jenkins’ team is now in third place in the Western Conference and has been an unexpected competitor this season. They make a lot of sense as a team that may be interested in getting someone with Butler’s postseason pedigree if they think he would behave himself.

Memphis boasts a number of talented young players who might be of interest to the Heat in a Butler trade, in addition to its key players, Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane. They would be able to lock down their core for the foreseeable future and free up some space to extend JJJ if they traded for Butler but did not extend his contract, which expires at the end of the year.
