Nelson – who dramatically quit Little Mix a year before the group announced its hiatus – is said to be pressing ahead full steam with her second solo single ‘Cried Out.’
The track, which is the follow-up to the performer’s polarizing debut ‘Boyz (ft. Nicki Minaj)’, is being released independently in the wake of the 31-year-old’s departure from Universal’s Polydor Records just 14 months intially signing.
Now, The Sun reports that, while Nelson will proceed with the indie release of her new song, she’s in talks for a major label return – with Warner Records being the main imprint touted.
A source allegedly close to developments said:
“It has been a tumultuous few months for Jesy but she is working hard to come back with a bang.
She has had meetings with labels, including Warner, about the possibility of signing a new deal.
Jesy will be releasing Cried Out as an independent artist and the labels will be keeping a close eye on the reaction to the song.”
The source continued:
“After being so unhappy, Jesy is really enjoying being independent.
But she has made it clear that if someone offers her the right deal, she will take it.
She has been in talks with Warner for some time but it all depends on whether they can carve up a deal which suits them both.
Those around Jesy think she would have a great future at Warner but nothing is set in stone.”
Should Nelson sign with Warner, she would join a roster that includes her former Little Mix bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock, who signed with the label last year.
