In an interview with Rolling Stone, Balvin explained why he sought out Smith when putting together his Coachella set.
“Will Smith has always been one of my biggest idols. Period. I feel really connected with him,” he said before emphasizing with the actor about his infamous slap, “You cannot judge a person for some mistakes.”
He continued to open up about the infamous slap between Smith and Chris Rock.
“A mistake cannot define who you are because if it’s like that, we all are bad. I felt his pain because I was going through a similar situation when I felt that some part of the world was against me for mistakes,” Balvin continued.
Smith has recently stepped back into the public spotlight in recent months, after a successful ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ press tour.
