Hot 100: Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ Holds #1 For Second Week / Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ Debuts at #2

Taylor Swift‘s ‘Anti-Hero’ saves her current streak atop the Billboard Hot 100 for yet another week despite some stiff competition.

Details inside.

For the second consecutive week Taylor is holding tight to the summit of the Hot 100 thanks to her ‘Midnights‘ single ‘Anti-Hero.’

As reported here, the song led nine other tracks from the album to occupy the entire top 10 last week (to historic measure).  This week, although facing a formidable threat from ‘Lift Me Up’ (the highly anticipated comeback single of Pop diva Rihanna) – ‘Anti-Hero’ still soared.

Here are the numbers that powered its stay.

  • Streaming: 35.6 million U.S.-based streams
  • Digital Downloads: 17,000 sold
  • Radio Airplay: 37.6 million audience impressions

Fulfilling industry analyst predictions, Swift was able to keep Rih at bay despite the Bajan beauty’s return wrecking radio records.  Entering at #2, ‘Lift’ – the first single from the official ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack – enjoyed an impressive first week commercial performance thanks to 48.1 million in radio audience impressions, 26.2 million streams, and 23,000 downloads sold.

Its runner-up opening was nothing short of historic as well as it not only came as the 32nd top 10 hit of her career (the fifth highest count of all time among all artists), but it also marks her 24th top 5 hit.  The latter achievement interestingly ties her with Swift and Pop Queen Janet Jackson in third place for the most top 5 hits of all time (among females). Only Madonna (28) and Mariah Carey (27) have more.

Just as impressive, the #2 arrival marks a personal milestone for Rih as her highest solo premiere on the tally to date.
