H.E.R. is Only a TONY Away from EGOT Status Thanks to 2022 Children’s EMMY Win

H.E.R. (born Gabriella Wilson) may only be 25-years-old, but the singer-actress is already one of the most-awarded musicians of her generation.

A five-time GRAMMY winner, the R&B diva’s trophy case is also lined with MTV VMAs, MTV EMAs, BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, and, most famously, a collected Best Song OSCAR for the ‘Judas & the Black Messiah’ tune ‘Fight For You’ (accepted at the 2021 Academy Awards).

In past interviews, Wilson has detailed in earnest what joining the group of Hollywood elites who have EGOT status (the acronym that references those who have the industry’s top four honors – EMMYs, GRAMMYs, OSCARs, and TONYs) would mean to her.

Now, with the addition of an EMMY to her growing accomplishments, she may not have to wait for long.

As we reported here, the inaugural Children’s and Family Emmy Awards happened at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles over the weekend (December 10-11) to toast to the year’s best family-friendly programming.

Among the nominees was ‘We the People,’ a Netflix animated series produced by Kenya Barris, former President Barack Obama, and former First Lady Michelle Obama, that took home the event’s Short Form Program trophy.

In addition to imparting the song, ‘Change,‘ to its soundtrack, Wilson also wrote for the show – a contribution that allowed her to collect the award alongside Barris and the Obamas.

With her EMMY triumph in tow, Gabriella is only a TONY win away from EGOT crowning.

If she should ever capture a TONY win, she would become only the sixth Black person in history to attain the status – joining the likes of Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Quincy Jones, James Earl Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, and Harry Belafonte before her.

Your thoughts?
