Fraudster NBA Agent Arrested After Ingesting $769,000 Worth of Diamond Earrings

After allegedly posing as an NBA agent to steal jewels, a man from Texas was taken into custody. And it is said that he swallowed the evidence when police confronted him.

Houston resident Jaythan Gilder, 32, was taken into custody during an altercation at Tiffany & Co. in Orlando, Florida. Court filings state that he is accused of stealing a $587,000 ring and two pairs of earrings valued at $769,500.

In order to gain access to the store’s private room, Gilder pretended to be an NBA agent. February 26 was the date of the occurrence.

The 32-year-old allegedly informed employees he was going to negotiate on behalf of an Orlando Magic NBA player when he entered the business.

Gilder reportedly introduced himself to the staff as Shawn before being shown to the VIP area of the business. Evidence of a man in a red polo shirt, who is believed to be Gilder, fighting a store clerk in the room was made public by the Orlando Police Department.

According to the police, the employee’s arms had obvious wounds from the incident. During the altercation, Gilder lost the diamond ring but was able to cling onto the earrings.

Then, according to CBS News, he rushed through the store after leaving the VIP room. According to the story, store employees were afraid he had a gun.
