The school said Monday that P.J. Blue, a former collegiate football player who was a linebacker for the Louisville Cardinals, had passed away.
Before he could make his collegiate debut, the Alabama native tore his ACL, despite having committed to Louisville in 2016. In 11 games during his 2018 season, Blue recorded 39 tackles. After sustaining yet another knee injury, he was unable to compete in the 2019 season.
In a social media post, Louisville stated: “We are saddened by the passing of Cardinal Forever P.J. Blue,”. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones.”

Blue was a highly regarded high school prospect going into college. After being selected to the Park Cross High School All-Metro team’s first team All-State, he was nominated for the U.S. Army All-American and the Under Armour All-American.
Despite receiving offers from schools like Ole Miss, Clemson, and Alabama, Blue ultimately decided on Louisville.
