The San Francisco 49ers are trying to improve on their incredible 2024 season, and quarterback Jayden Daniels has a big ceiling since the team dealt Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders earlier this month.
The 2025 season may now be a little more profitable for Samuel as well.
Samuel signed a three-year, $71.5 million contract with the 49ers, but he and the Commanders have decided to extend it through 2025. With further incentives, Samuel, 29, may earn up to $20 million this autumn, and Washington will now guarantee $17 million of his deal.
A reworked deal for Deebo in DC: the Commanders are guaranteeing $17 million of Deebo Samuel’s previously non-guaranteed salary for this season, along with adding another $3 million worth of incentives, per sources. In 2024, Samuel had a disappointing season, catching 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 136 yards and one score. In 2021, Samuel reached his peak with 1,770 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns.
As he looks to land another huge, long-term deal next summer, he now has a guaranteed, prove-it agreement.
