With 35.2 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Nuggets forward Spencer Jones fouled Doncic, allowing the Lakers star to shoot two free throws.
The TV microphones picked up the somewhat boisterous supporter who yelled an ancient basketball catchphrase after Doncic missed the first: “Ball don’t lie!” This expression is frequently used following a missed foul shot that, in the opinion of the observer, validates the injustice of a call.
