Max is gearing up for the thrilling weekly release of ‘Duster.’

The eight-episode series, set to premiere on May 15, is executive produced by Abrams, Morgan, and Rachel Rich alongside Morgan’s TinkerToy Productions.

Set in 1972, the series follows Nina (Rachel Hilson), the first Black female FBI agent, who embarks on a high-stakes mission in the Southwest: to recruit a getaway driver and take down a rising crime syndicate led by the ruthless Ezra (Keith David)

‘Duster’ is not directly based on the real-life story of Sylvia Mathis, the first Black female FBI agent who broke barriers in 1976.

However, the show draws inspiration from the same resilience and determination that defined her journey.

Mathis made history as a trailblazer in a field that had long excluded Black women. A graduate of Indiana University’s law school, she joined the FBI at a time when diversity within federal law enforcement was nearly nonexistent.

Though her tenure was short, her legacy was profound, paving the way for future generations of Black women in the Bureau.
