The war continues between ‘Love and War’ hitmaker Tamar Braxton and author-social media personality Craig Stewart.
As has been widely reported, Stewart – who co-hosts ‘Phag Tawlk‘ with TS Madison – entered a heated exchange with the GRAMMY-nominated songstress during a recent live taping of the popular podcast in which she referred to him as “girl” and “b-tch.”
And while she may not have meant it derogatorily, their altercation sparked a larger conversation about respect between the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.
A few days later, Braxton visited ‘The Morning Hustle‘ to address the hoopla around the headline-grabbing clash (as seen in the video above).
“We were at a gay event and I was with my gay friends and that’s how we talk,” Tamar relayed after being asked by the host if she went too far by calling Craig a “b-tch.” “He shouldn’t have gotten upset; I think everybody was just inebriated because we were having a blast and we came to a show to be gay.”
While chatting on the topic, the 48-year-old singer doubled down that she is a “really big supporter of the LGBTQ community” and felt her comments were “fitting” for the environment.
Eventually taking to Instagram (March 13), however, Braxton clarified that she took the heated interaction with Stewart as a teaching moment.
“here’s the thing. Not all Gay men want to be called “girl”…… or b-tch….I’m just learning this. I talk like this EVERYDAY!!!! …. That doesn’t mean that it’s ok. Shout out to @craigthewriterstewart for allowing me the grace to understand that. I appreciate the lesson,” she relayed to her 6.1 million followers on the platform.
Braxton’s redemptive social media post may have insinuated the two made amends, but Stewart suggested otherwise when he took to the March 18 episode of ‘Tawlk’ to talk about the incident.
“I felt like you [Tamar] tried to attack me because you didn’t like the truth that I spoke on this [podcast] as it relates to my perception of the ‘Braxton Family Values’ when it came back and my perception of how you are showing up in the world,” he said during the livestream after declaring the R&B diva tried to “humiliate” him.
Later, Craig reiterated his stance on how Tamar takes advantage of her proximity to the LGBTQ+ to use lingo that may not be universally welcomed by all the community’s members.
“All I was trying to communicate to you on the stage that night was that we are not that familiar, and so if you’ve been around gay people for years and you have gay friends and you are truly an ally, then you should’ve respected the boundary that I set. I set multiple boundaries that night. I said ‘do not call me girl,’ and then you said ‘b-tch.’ Then, I said ‘now you’re treading in the waters of disrespect,” he shared.
The author-social media personality also addressed the critics who feel he’s making much ado about nothing.
“For the people who were not there who said, ‘he’s just overreacting; we say girl all the time.’ Who is ‘we’? Because the cisgender, natural-born women that are in my life who are friends with me in real life, they don’t call me ‘girl.’ And, I don’t call my female friends ‘b-tch,'” he said.

According to Craig, Tamar has threatened legal action if he continues chatting about the incident.
