Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. Reveals the Hilarious Location Where He Heard Starter News

On Tuesday, the Atlanta Falcons made the unavoidable announcement that rookie southpaw Michael Penix Jr. would replace veteran Kirk Cousins as their starting quarterback.

The Falcons are still very much in the running for the NFC Playoffs, so they are hoping that their big swing will pay off. Several people were taken aback when the team revealed the news on Tuesday, including Penix, who revealed his location at the time.

On Wednesday, the rookie informed reporters that when the Falcons called him, he was waiting in line at Costco for a hot dog.

Penix said: “I was shopping with my girlfriend—we was at Costco,” “I got the call, they told me I was gonna be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season. As you can imagine, it was some nerves and excitement, but just super blessed to be in this position.”

In the NFL, the 24-year-old has only thrown five passes. However, the Falcons were able to go with the rookie Southpaw with ease after Cousins’ subpar performance against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night.

Raheem Morris talks about Michael Penix Jr.’s inclusion

Regarding Penix’s promotion, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris made the following remark. In the statement, Morris stated: “After review we have made the decision Michael Penix will be the Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback moving forward,” “This was a football decision and we are fully focused on preparing the team for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.” “We didn’t play particularly well at the quarterback position,” “We didn’t play well (Monday) at that spot. I like to be open and honest about those things. It’s always going to be those questions marks. It’s always going to be those question marks when it comes to head coach, when it comes to the quarterback. And you got to be really transparent about it. We got to play better. I think that’s the thing that’s got to be put out there, that we got to play better, and that’s the thing that’s got to be addressed. This thing’s got to happen in order for us to find ways to win versus our next opponent, which is the New York Giants.”

The former Washington Huskie has been given the reins and will try to lead Atlanta to the postseason for the first time since the 2017 campaign.
