Drake Makes a SECOND Legal Filing Against Universal Music Over Kendrick Lamar Diss ‘Not Like Us’ / Claims Defamation

In a developing story, Drake has made a second legal filing against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar‘s diss track ‘Not Like Us.’

And this time he’s alleging defamation.

Full story below…

Lawyers for Drake first claimed that UMG colluded with Spotify to “inflate” the popularity of the track by way of alleged use of payola and streaming “bots.”

The second filing, made yesterday in Texas and published today (November 26), centers on defamation.

And this time, Drizzy’s reps are roping in media giant iHeartRadio.

The rapper shockingly accuses UMG of “funneled payments” to iHeart as part of a “pay-to-play scheme” to promote Lamar’s chart-topping hit.

Central to the defamatory argument is Drake’s belief that UMG knew Lamar’s smash “falsely” accused him of being a “certified p*dophile” and “predator” yet chose to release it regardless.

It read:

“UMG … could have refused to release or distribute the song or required the offending material to be edited and/or removed. But UMG chose to do the opposite. UMG designed, financed and then executed a plan to turn ‘Not Like Us’ into a viral mega-hit with the intent of using the spectacle of harm to Drake and his businesses to drive consumer hysteria and, of course, massive revenues. That plan succeeded, likely beyond UMG’s wildest expectations.”

Like yesterday’s first filing, the submission is seen as more of a pre-action move and is not a lawsuit. Yet is more a precursor to a potential suit and provides insight into the evidence Camp Drake appears to be drawing on to build out a possible case.

UMG hit back hard at the first filing, deeming it “absurd and offensive.” Time will tell if another clapback is incoming.

Both Drake and Lamar are signed to UMG by way of subsidiary labels.
