Cameron Brink Talks Candidly About His Recovery From an ACL Injury

Cameron Brink of the Los Angeles Sparks talked about her “whirlwind” rehabilitation from an ACL injury.

In an attempt to establish a new face for the team, the Los Angeles Sparks selected Cameron Brink with the second pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. However, Brink suffered an ACL injury in her fifteenth career game last June, which ended her rookie season.

On her podcast Straight to Cam with Cameron Brink and Sydel Curry-Lee on Monday, Brink talked candidly about her ACL rehabilitation, which has already been eight months since her injury.

Cameron Brink opens up about ACL tear

She talked about the difficulties she had getting back on the court. Brink stated: “Honestly, like, it’s been a whirlwind. But I feel like now people don’t talk about it as much,”  “This is the hardest part for me because I’m just finally starting to do the jumping, the running, and the cutting slightly.”

Brink’s mental health has been the most difficult part of her rehabilitation. She believes that in order to return to her former level of athletic ability, she must relearn the game. Brink stated: “I went on a run the other day, running for four minutes and then walking for one minute. When I tell you, I’ve never been so gassed in my life!”

“I’m like, I’m not an athlete right now. The same thing with shooting—I’m not making shots; I feel like I’m just having to relearn everything.”

Brink instantly demonstrated her reputation for being an excellent defensive player in the WNBA. Throughout her brief rookie season, she averaged 2.3 blocks per game, and throughout her time at Stanford, she recorded 3.1 rejections per game.

When Brink comes to the floor, the Sparks, who caused a stir by acquiring star guard Kelsey Plum in the offseason, will anticipate that and more. Fans undoubtedly value the young star’s efforts to keep them informed in the lead-up to the 2025 WNBA season.

Whether Brink will be cleared to play for the Sparks when the season starts has not yet been determined. On May 16, Los Angeles will play the expansion Golden State Valkyries on the road.
