Cam Newton Says It “Hurts” Him That He Can’t Support His 8 Kids the Way He Did in the NFL

This week’s Special Forces episode featured a vulnerable moment for Cam Newton. The 35-year-old acknowledged that he no longer feels like “Superman” to his eight children after losing his NFL income.

During the show, Newton stated: “I’m going into a different phase of my life that’s going to require a different form of myself,”  “Being in the NFL, everyone knows there’s a large sum of money that comes to you in a short span of time, and being away from the game for three years, those checks don’t come in the same. Like I got eight kids.”

Newton played for the Panthers in 2021, the Patriots in 2020, and the Panthers from 2011 to 2019.

The former sportsman stated: “It hurts me knowing that I can’t provide like I once did. It hurts thinking that I’m Superman, but in reality, I’m just a man,”

“There’s a famous quote that says in order to get something that you’ve never had, you go to do something that you’ve never done. At 35, I can literally say, ‘Okay now I’m getting prepared for this next chapter of my life,’”

The podcast presenter is the father of eight children with three women. His long-term ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor is the parent of four of those children: daughter Sovereign-Dior Cambella and sons Cashmere Saint, Camidas Swai, and Chosen Sebastian. Additionally, he assists Proctor in raising her ex-partner’s children.

Along with photographer LaReina Shaw, the former athlete has two children: Caesar, their son, and Jaden, who Shaw had with someone else. Since 2022, Newton has been dating comedian Jasmin Brown, with whom he has the youngest child. They have not yet revealed the name of their first kid, who was born in March 2024.

This frank admission follows months after Newton, in an interview with Dr. Cheyenne Bryant on his Funky Friday podcast, stated that he is amenable to having additional children.
