While the NFL community prepares for the upcoming season with OTAs currently taking place, Stefon Diggs has been making headlines recently for reasons unrelated to football.
The Patriots‘ wide receiver has become a hot topic on social media after videos emerged of him enjoying a yacht party with his rumored girlfriend Cardi B. And this wasn’t just any yacht outing — it featured twerking, pink packets being shared, and the kind of viral moments that dominate timelines in no time.
As Stefon Diggs and the “Bodak Yellow” star appeared to be having a blast, Offset — Cardi B’s former partner and the ex-frontman of Migos — tweeted something that caught attention shortly after.
He shared a tweet, accompanied by a GIF that read: “Today I pass.”
On the face of it, it seemed like he was dismissing the buzz surrounding his ex, Cardi B, her new romantic interest Stefon Diggs, and the mockery that followed. However, as we know the internet often has its questions — and so did Cam Newton.
Cam Newton opens up about Stefon Diggs and Cardi B
The former NFL MVP, in the latest episode of 4th&1, expressed his thoughts with the kind of raw honesty that only he can provide:
“Offset, respectfully, you didn’t pass bro. You fumbled. Stefon Diggs, scoop and score.”
“You don’t pass a Cardi B… In our culture, you got to have a little sass, a whole lot of assets, some professionalism, with some ratchetness… just a little sprinkle of ‘don’t play with it.’”
“I speak for every single person from the hood, in the hood, in the culture. Cardi B possesses all that.”
“I’ve met her once — twice — at a gala, an award show. It was high and bye, boom. So my perspective of who she is versus what [Offset] may see or say — we don’t know. But from the outside looking in, that’s where we are… This is why you just can’t really play with that man like that,” . “Because I would be hurting.”
“If I was Offset, bro, I would go on a sabbatical and I would work so much on me, I wouldn’t even try to compete with her.”
In Cam Newton’s opinion, Offset’s “I pass” tweet was a wasted chance, even though it may have been meant as cool detachment. It’s safe to assume that the scoop-and-score may be more than a metaphor now that Diggs is involved.
